Blue Crab Blues

I’m a crab

And I’d like to grab you

I’m a crab

And I’d like to pinch you too

I’m a crab

I’ve got the blue crab blues

Callinectes sapidus

I use to live where the sea grass was

I’m sure I look odd when I crawl

Swimming sideways, flat and small

But I am tough and I am bad

With a softer side like you ain’t had

I’m a crab

And I’d like to grab you

I’m a crab

And I’d like to pinch you too

I’m a crab

I’ve got the blue crab blues

My name is Jimmy and my girl is sooks

And we’ve avoided all your traps and hooks

We’ve spawned a million little baby zoea

Wish we could spawn a million more

I got a dream and I won’t let go

To see my megalops live to grow

I’m a crab

And I’d like to grab you

I’m a crab

And I’d like to pinch you too

I’m a crab

I’ve got the blue crab blues

I like to surf the food wide web

But it’s disappearing like a tidal ebb

You’re taking all of my family and friends

You’re making trouble that just won’t end

Now if you don’t leave us all alone

I’m gonna bite your toe to the bone

I’m a crab

And I’d like to grab you

I’m a crab

And I’d like to pinch you too

I’m a crab

I’ve got the blue crab blues
